Google Pagerank Extension
- carefully explained and what you can
do with it - written by top SEO experts
With the Google
Pagerank extension! This is a Firefox 0.9.x compatible
extension that adds a Google PageRank widget to the
statusbar.
It acts exactly as the real googlebar on IE: calculate a
checksum, send a request to google.com (with the
googlebar User-Agent string), and the reply contains the
pagerank.
Toolbar extension for Firefox and Mozilla that allows
you to see how any and every website in the world is
performing. Designed for the highly specialised needs of
search engine marketers, this toolbar provides extensive
search-related information about a site, all
conveniently displayed in one discreet and compact
toolbar.
For every site you visit using, Search Status lets you
view its Google PageRank, Google Category, Alexa
popularity ranking, Alexa incoming links, Alexa related
links and backward links from Google, Yahoo! and MSN.
This combined search-related information means you can
view not only the link importance of a site (according
to Google), but also its traffic importance according to
Alexa, so providing a balanced view of site efficacy.
The SearchStatus Mozilla and Mozilla Firefox extension
appears unobtrusively at the bottom of the browser on
the status bar. If you choose to view backward links for
a particular page, they open in new tabs in the same
browser window. Disable the automatic Google and Alexa
queries and they fold away from view.
Whilst neither Google Page
Rank of Alexa Popularity Ranking scores are particularly
accurate representations of a pages hit pulling power,
it is nice to have these statistics available to get an
idea of how a site is performing. It beats having to
load up Internet Explorer each time you want to see page
ranking information.
Want to know why Google or Yahoo! ranks pages? If so
this is the Firefox extension for you. SEO for Firefox
pulls in many useful marketing data points to make it
easy get a more holistic view of the competitive
landscape of a market right from the search results.
I like to just be able to glance at something and see if
it is worth doing or not. Over time in the SEO game you
sorta learn a feel for estimating keywords and markets,
but it is helpful to have a few additional data points,
especially if you are new to the market.
This tool was designed to add more data to Google and
Yahoo! to make it easier to evaluate the value and
competitive nature of a market. SEO for Firefox pulls in
many useful marketing data points to make it easy get a
more holistic view of the competitive landscape of a
market right from the search results. In addition to
pulling in useful marketing data this tool also provides
links to the data sources so you can dig deeper into the
data.
However, although the Googlebar project has never
incorporated these features itself, several other
projects have arisen over time that do contain this
ability. While we should stress that these projects are
in no way affiliated with or supported by either Google
Inc. or the members of the Googlebar project, these do
provide options for those interested in seeing Pagerank
values when they visit a website. However, read the
section below for a note on privacy concerns involved in
using these extensions.
PageRank and Googlebar- This site provides an extension
to the Googlebar that, much like the internet Explorer
toolbar produced by Google, displays pagerank values for
every site you visit directly on the Googlebar in
Mozilla or Firefox.
PageRank Status- Available at present only for Mozilla
Firefox, this extension provides a way to display the
Pagerank value for a page without installing the
Googlebar- instead, the values are displayed in the
status bar of the Firefox web browser.
If you are considering installing either of these
extensions, please remember that we at the Google bar
project can provide no support in using them, and for
that you should contact the respective authors of the
extensions. However, given the recent popularity of such
extensions, we would like to offer the following advice
to our users who are considering installing them:
In order to display page rank values for a site, it's
important to remember that the extension must get them
from somewhere, and since the formula is so complex,
this is usually from Google inc, via a script hosted on
a third-party server. However, this means that whenever
you visit any web page, the only way Page rank can be
displayed is by sending (along with your IP address) the
URL of each and every web page you visit. The sites that
these scripts are hosted on are both, as of this
writing, separate from both the Google bar project and
Google itself, and so this means that is you choose to
use these extensions, a third party will be given in
essence a complete copy of your browsing history.
At present, we stress that we have absolutely no reason
whatsoever to believe that any extension is abusing this
privilege; to the best of our knowledge, this scripts
are intended only to retrieve and display page rank
values. However, we do not have access to these scripts
ourselves, and so if these privacy concerns are an issue
for you, you may wish to reconsider installing an
extension that does this.

Simply enter the
location of your site and click on “Get Live PR” - it’s
that easy. Once the submit is made, the scripts heads
out, via Ajax connections, to grab the data from the
various sources. It’s displayed in a list below as the
results arrive. The data is displayed with the IP it
came from, a bar that shows the rank visually, and a
rating out of ten.
For those Firefox users out there, there’s also an
extension for viewing the PageRank of whatever site
you’re on.
